Phase 2
Guys, I have the best news! My kitchen is finally done!! I’m so over painting LOL but the hard work definitely paid off. We are thrilled about the end result. The best part? We did all of this on a budget, and it was seriously worth every penny! To see where it all began, check out my Kitchen Remodel Phase 1 post.
Lets talk paint colors!!
I was so excited to start painting these cabinets. I knew I wanted them to look fresh and clean, so white seemed like the best option! We used this spray gun to paint the cabinets and will definitely be using this again! It even has adjustable settings depending on the DIY project at hand.
Next, the island! I wanted a classy and modern color scheme, so what’s better than black and white?! The duo that will never go out of style. I hand-rolled all the black paint onto the island using my favorite foam rollers. So simple and easy to do! Another reason I wanted to use this black is because it’s the color on all the doors, trim, and staircases in our house. It all goes together so flawlessly!

We taped off any areas we wanted to be safe. Also, we left the cabinet hardware on the self where the cabinet was removed.
Next, sand each cabinet and wipe off any excess dust with a soft rag! As some of you might know, sanding can be a daunting and time-consuming task. However, when remodeling, I highly recommend sanding any pieces you are planning to paint for a smoother surface and a better turnout! We sanded the entire kitchen, and though it took some time, it was very necessary and well worth it.
Then, paint the inside cabinet trim with a brush and foam roller, Steve used the spray gun to paint the cabinet doors. We also painted the underside of the cabinets so you could not see the pine under cabinets.

We are over the moon about the outcome of these cabinets! And look at those pretty gold handles! After Steve used the spray gun from Amazon to paint the doors and cabinets, we put these gorgeous handles on that are also from Amazon. They come in so many different sizes and are super budget-friendly which is a plus!
When starting a big DIY project like a remodel, there are a few things to keep in mind. Set your budget before getting started so you have a feasible plan (and stick to it)! Get multiple quotes and always double the amount of time they actually say it will take because life happens! Be patient and know there’s lots to learn along the way.
Overall, this kitchen remodel has been one of my favorite projects yet! So much fun and easier than it may seem!
