
WHO IS ANGIE?
Angie was born and raised in Ecuador and got her business engineer degree at 23! She met her husband at 29 and they got married in Canada a year later. After marrying, she lived in Canada for about 3 years where her son was born in Saskatoon, Canada! She and her family moved to the US in 2012, and they purchased their current home in 2014. Since then, Angie has been obsessed with all things home decor. She started to share pictures on social media and it took off from there! She loves sharing the progress of her renovations with the hopes of inspiring people that are going through the same process and anyone who is looking for home decor inspiration!
WHAT SPARKED ANGIE’S PASSION FOR HOME DECOR?
Angie admits she’s always loved home decor. When she was a single girl living in Ecuador, she was always fascinated with beautiful decor. However, her passion didn’t truly begin until she and her husband bought her own house in America. She had a vision of exactly how she wanted her family home to look, therefore she went to Instagram for decor inspo. She discovered the home decor community and that’s where it all began!
WHAT IS ANGIE’S DIY PAINTING? WHAT ABOUT HER FIREPLACE?
Since most home decor stores have been closed due to the pandemic, Angie decided to do her own wall decor because she needed an update! She creates beautiful and simple art on canvas and places a gorgeous frame around them to make them look professional! For her fireplace, Angie wanted to do something a little bit more traditional. She used contemporary tile and geometric wallpaper to add traditional touches to her fireplace which turned out absolutely stunning! You can view her fireplace DIY HERE!
WHAT DOES ANGIE’S OTHER BUSINESS ENTAIL?
Not only is Angie a mom, a wife, and the owner of an Instagram account, she also has another business she created! Angie says that she is in the “glamorous business of renting dumpsters!” She has a small company where she rents out dumpsters, and she says her husband has been helping her lately drive the trucks for drop off and pick up! She loves spending time with her husband so she says this has been so fun during quarantine.
WHAT ARE A FEW TIPS FROM ANGIE REGARDING TIME MANAGEMENT ON INSTAGRAM?
Angie encourages those wanting to start their own instagram to really pay attention to the content! Content is so important and is really what captures the audience on social media. Also, she says “always stay true to your style!” It is important to be your own and speak to that because that’s the only way that followers are going to recognize you for you! When you have your own style, your followers are going to love that about you and your page.
Angie also recommends taking good quality pictures. If people are seeing good quality pictures, they’re going to be drawn to your platform because of it. Good lighting is also super important because it really catches people’s attention. Angie has a ring light and a Canon camera that she takes her pictures with! She admits it does take time because after capturing her photos, she then has to edit and upload. It’s a process, but worth it! She uses her phone to take videos and edits on Inshot.

DOES ANGIE PLAN AHEAD?
Since Angie’s weeks are usually very busy, she tries to clean and stage the house in order to take multiple pictures at a time. She says between being a mom, a business owner, and her home decor page, it’s hard to not plan ahead! She tries to batch her content as often as she can.
DOES ANGIE HAVE ANY UPCOMING RENOVATIONS?
Yes! As soon as Angie is done with the exterior projects, she wants to refinish her hardwood floors in the family room! It’s looking a bit old, so Angie and her husband want to update it. After she’s done with the floors, she’s going to start with her son’s bathroom! Angie and her husband try to do all of their renovations themselves, big and small. Though they aren’t experienced in renovations, they do lots of research beforehand in order to get the project done without having to contract help and spend lots of money.
ANY OTHER TIPS FROM ANGIE?
Angie says that when she moved into their current house, they brought all of their furniture in from their previous home. However, she just wasn’t loving it. She wanted to try a different style – one that she loved! This took her a while. She says it’s so important to do lots of research before redoing the entire house because you want to make sure you love that style. Angie admits she made lots of mistakes and spent lots of money to redecorate before really discovering the style she loved. Be true to yourself, take your time, and don’t rush it!
