One of the reasons I started my Instagram and Blog is to share simple DIY home decor projects anyone can do. Plus, keeping my home’s decor updated and on-trend on a budget has always been a priority. One of my favorite budget projects is these simple glam DIY home decor candles. It’s amazing what a few clearance stickers can do to transform an ordinary candle into an extraordinary candle DIY home decor candle that I can use in so many spots in my home.
Budget shopping
One of my favorite budget-friendly stores is Ross Dress for Less. I was able to find these large candles for about 8.99 each. I keep them mainly for display, and I love updating them with different stickers to match my holidays. When I was out shopping, I ran across these clearance stickers from Micheals, and I wasn’t quite sure what I would use them for, but they were on sale for about 2.00 each. I grabbed a few and added them to my DIY closet in hopes inspiration would hit me for that price. Well, it finally did right after Christmas. I always get sad when I take my Christmas decor down, and the house feels empty, so I wanted to bring back in some sparkle. One morning I was rearranging my decor, and I grabbed my large candles and wondered what I could add to them. I then headed into my decor closet and grabbed these stickers, and began playing around with them. I placed them on one, and I liked it. So I added this tutorial to my January Instagram content.
Organizing tip
Your probably thinking, who has space for a decor closet? Now I do, but in the past, when I started my Instagram account, we lived in Dallas in an apartment for a year. My apartment was about 1,200 sq ft, and I didn’t have a lot of space. So I used long flat totes that could slide under my bed for all my DIY essentials. I made sure my paint, glue gun, paper, stickers, glitter, etc., all had their own space. I did this by dividing each tote into different compartments with smaller totes. In total, I shoved 5 of those totes under the bed, and I was able to store and access all my DIY essentials easily.
What you will need for this project
- Large candle any color
- Rhinestone stickers, I picked mine up on clearance at Micheals Stores
Simple DIY’s
What I love the most about this project is its simplicity. Adding one thing to an ordinary candle totally transforms them into something beautiful. It’s a timeless design, and I know that you can incorporate something similar to this into your home’s decor. The best part is when your taste changes, you peel off the sticker!
Easy Styling
When styling any vignette, use the rule of odds. Grouping items in threes, fives, and sevens are more appealing to the eye. I place these candles on some large brass candle holders at the end of my kitchen counters. I love the styling white on white and these white candles with a little bit of sparkle placed in front of my white herringbone kitchen tile, and white walls really made the brass and stickers pop. Then adding the extra glam glitter vase with a crystal swag completed the vignette.

Stickers are an easy way to bring in a touch of glam into your home. You can add them to any size, color, or shape candle. When your out shopping, always look for a bargain, cruise the clearance isles. You never know what you will find. If you have a smaller home and want to build up your DIY stash, think about where you can find storage? Maybe it’s under a bed or a dedicated shelf or cabinet in your home. Lastly, don’t be afraid of trying something new some people are going to love it, and some are not, but what truly matters is if you like it.
